Our Story

The Blair Family

Setter Ridge is a family owned and operated vineyard and winery. English Setters and winemaking have been a part of our family for generations. Every bottle of wine is a representation of the place it comes from and the people who make it.  It is because of these deep relationships that we call our family winery Setter Ridge Vineyards.  Every family shares traditions. For our family sharing a bottle of wine over a meal is how we reconnect after time apart.  Each opened bottle is a celebration of new moments or remembrance of old memories. When you visit our winery we hope you experience the same feeling of family and friendship.

Setter Ridge Vineyards is located in Berks County, Pennsylvania.  These farmlands and hillsides where we have chosen to grow our grapes have been owned by our family for generations.  It is from this unique location that our wine obtains its distinctive palette. The high elevation, the cool temperatures and the southeastern aspects of the slopes in this small region of Pennsylvania make an ideal location for the cold climate grapes of northern Europe.

It was our father, Richard Blair, who started this vineyard out of his love for the wines of central France.  He selected this vineyard location near our family home due to his passion for wines and his appreciation of the French wine country.  The steep slopes of southeastern Pennsylvania harken back to the hillsides of France that our father fell in love with many years ago.
